Editor's Desk: an old, cluttered oak deskEditor’s Desk

This space provides me with an opportunity to express some of the views that inform our aesthetic and ethical choices — to simply editorialize, in other words. Most of the topics dealt with here involve genuine factors encountered in our work, whether punctuation and grammar issues, business considerations, or something else.
You probably noticed that I (singular) am presuming to speak for our (plural) viewpoint. This is because I’m in charge of what staff we have, and ultimately responsible for final decisions. Therefore, everything contained in this section is written in the first person. Hopefully, that also makes the content a bit more cordial.
This isn’t a blog (I’m afraid I don’t really have enough leisure for that — maybe later), but check back from time to time. As issues arise, topics get added. My comments here generally take the form of occasional short essays. It’s my sincere wish they’ll provide you with something worth taking away.
(Reprints, however, are by permission only. Reproducing any of these articles — without alteration — elsewhere on the Internet is allowed, as long as proper attribution is given and a link back to this site included.)
If you’d like to contact me regarding that, or anything else, please see Contact Us, above. Unless it involves a business matter, however, I’m afraid I can’t promise any sort of prompt response.

Sincerely,
The Editor
